Why would you want to manually add votes during a contest?

Adding bonus votes can be used as an incentive to get entrants to perform specific actions. Some typical examples include:

  • Early submission - 'Enter before this date and receive 100 bonus votes'

  • Sharing on social media - 'Share your entry on social media using the tag #example and receive 100 bonus votes'

  • Submitting specific content - 'All video entries will receive 100 bonus votes'

The number of votes added is completely up to you.

Note: To add votes from the backend, you must first create a valid Vote period. If you haven't, you'll need to create one first.

Adding Votes

To add votes to an entry:

1. Navigate to the Entries tab: Contest > Manage (specific contest) > Entries

2. Click Manage for the entry to receive votes.

3. Select the Vote History tab

4. Press the Add Votes button. A dialog will appear:

5. Enter the number of votes for the Entry to receive.

6. Select the Voting Period for the votes to be registered in.

7. Press Submit.

The votes will now be added.

Auditing and removing Admin Votes

Any votes added by the Admin will be identifiable in the Votes tab. While in the section:

Votes > Validated Votes

Press the Columns button and ensure the Type option is selected. You will be able to see all votes where the type is 'Admin Vote', this is shown in the screenshot below:

Should you wish to remove an Admin vote:

  5. The vote record(s) will be moved to the Removed Votes section.
