ContestPad judges can score entries based on multiple assessment criteria. This is great for creating RUBRIC style scoring of entries.

To create a judging round with Assessment Criteria select "Assessment Rating" in the Judging Type field.

Then set the scale. This can be set from 1 to 10. This will determine the number of stars that each assessment can be rated to.

Then enter the description of each criteria and select a weighting. The weighting determines the number of points each star is worth for each criteria.

Once the criteria is selected you can determine how to score the entry when multiple judges are scoring the same entry.

  • Sum: This will add together the scores from each judge for each entry

  • Average: This will average the scores across all judges for each entry

  • Average (only scores greater than zero): This will only average the scores as above but will include scores in the average which are greater than zero. This means entries that have not been judged will be excluded

Then there are multiple options that can be enabled:

  • Enable Judging Comments: Enable judges to enter overall comments with each entry

  • Enable Auto Assignment: This will automatically assign entries to all judging groups and/or users assigned to the judging round in a round robin fashion. This includes both entries published when the round has started and also any new published entries that are added while the round is active.

  • Automatically assign published submissions to judges after the round has started: If you would like to manually assign entries initially (not use auto-assignment) but as new entries are published you would like these automatically assigned to judges you can select this option.

  • Enable Judges to Submit Score Manually: This option enables judges to submit and finalise their score for individual entries before waiting until the end of the judging round. When this is enabled and a judge submits their score for an individual entry the entry will no longer be visible to the judge and they can no longer change the score for the entry.

  • Include score if not completed by Due Date: If this is disabled then if a judge has not completed scoring all entries prior to the end of the round then their score will be excluded from the finalised combine score for each entry at the end of the round.

  • Enable auto start: If enabled then the round will automatically start and all judges will receive the email and have their judging portal activated once the start date and time is reached. This can only be used for dates and times in the future.

Once these are configured you can then set the Start and End date that the round is to be active for judges.

You can then also assign the judges groups or individual users you would like assigned to the round.
