To create a new product select the "+" button on the top left of the products table.

You will then be presented with a blank products form to complete.

Product Status

The status field determines whether a product is enabled or not. If a product is not enabled then it will not be selectable (in the case of a product that requires purchasing). If a previously created and enabled product exists and the product has been purchased by users then those users will continue to be able to access the courses and lectures assigned to that product, however users who have not previously purchased that product will be able to purchase that product any longer.
If a free product is set to disabled then all users will not be able to access the content associated with the product as soon as the product is set to "Inactive"

Product Name

The product name is a descriptive name associated to the product. The name is specifically important for purchasable products as this is what is displayed to the prospective student when they are selecting a course or lecture to purchase.

Description

The description is also an important field and should contain a good description of the type of courses and lectures that are contained within this product. This is also displayed to the prospective student before they purchase.

Type of Product

The type of product determines the cost structure for a product and can be set to either "Free access", "Subscription" or "One time".
Free Access products are used to provide immediate free access to users once they have registered to the portal. Free access products do not have any other product type options available. If a course or lecture is assigned to a free product then it is available at no charge even if that same lecture or course is associated with a different product which requires payment.

Subscription products are used to capture recurring payments from the student over a defined interval period. The payment gateway settings must be configured in order to set a product type to Subscription. Important note: Once a product is created of type subscription the type, interval, amount and currency cannot be changed. The following options are available for Subscription type products:

  • Plan Interval : This is the recurrent payment period for the product. The valid periods are daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. The period date and time will begin from the date and time of purchase by the student

  • Amount : This is the recurring payment fee that is chargeable to the student for the product.

  • Currency : This is the currency to use for the payment. The valid currency values are US Dollars, Australian Dollars, EURO and British Pound.

One Time products are payments that can either be one time or recurring payments for a fixed period of time. Important note: Once a product is created of type One Time the type, interval, Number of periods, amount and currency cannot be changed. The following options are available for the One time type products:

  • Plan Interval : This is the payment period for the product. The valid periods are daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. The period date and time will begin from the date and time of purchase by the student

  • Number of periods : This represents how many periods based on the Interval setting will product payments be taken and how long access to the product will be available. You can set up to a maximum of 12 periods.

  • Amount : This is the recurring payment fee that is chargeable to the student for the product.

  • Currency : This is the currency to use for the payment. The valid currency values are US Dollars, Australian Dollars, EURO and British Pound.

Redeem Codes

Redeem codes are used to apply special discounts to products. Note that redeem codes are invalid for products of type Free access.
Redeem codes need to be pre-created under the Redeem code management section.
To add a redeem code select the "Select the redeem codes" box and select a redeem code from the drop down box.

Select the redeem code and hit the "+" button. The redeem code will then be applied to that product. Whenever someone enters a redeem code from the portal they will be eligible to receive a discount to the associated products based on the settings defined in the redeem code configuration.

It is important to note that products cannot be deleted once they are created and there are active subscriptions that users have purchased for the given product wanting to be deleted. In order to delete a product you must disable it first. This will stop any new purchases being transacted for the product. Once all subscriptions to the disabled product have expired the product can then be deleted.
